A health and wellness week in Munich, Germany |

That's what I am calling it anyway....
Surgery is set for the 17th of this month in Munich at the Alpha Spine Klinik. I actually can't wait. It's going to be kind of exciting for me to be able to walk and run and play without severe pain. Who knows, I may even take up jogging or football haha. Here's a guided tour of what I will have to go through for the surgery. Guided Tour (my surgery will be in the lower back, not the neck) I will be able to walk out of the hospital a couple hours after the operation. I see my self in a nearby Beer Garten a couple hours after that ; ) My friend Dan is coming to help me out. My surgeon says I need someone in the hotel with me afer the surgery to make sure I am okay (mostly for insurance reasons). I also need someone to drive me back to Heidelberg. So Dan will be flying into Frankfurt onTuesday morning, then we will drive my car to Munich (about a 3.5 hour trip) We're staying at the Arabella Grand Sheraton which is huuuuge. It's got 5 restraunts, 2 cigar bars, heated indoor pool, and a 3,000 sq foot spa and wellness center. The hotel is located in a very prestigous area of Munich (Arabella Park) close to everything. It's sourounded by gardens and parks. I am trying to talk my friend Brian into coming too (that's him driving my car home from Frankfurt when he was there on business a few months ago). The surgery aside, it could be a fun getaway. It may be my last jaunt in Europe. I'm planning to move back to Forida soon after. C'mon Brian! Get your butt over here and have a beer with me in the Garten!
Mom and Dad wanted to come too, but my Dad just had knee surgery, so mom's got her hands full taking care of him. Plus they have Cody and Tess to take care of as well. Munich is a city of superlatives. From laptops to lederhosen , beer gardens to BMW, from Isar valley to art metropolis, not to mention the biggest folk festival in the world ( Octoberfest ) – it's a city you simply must see. Munich has been called "the warm-hearted regional capital", "the northernmost city in Italy" and "the beer capitol of the world." Its countless beer gardens and street cafes, its many green areas, such as the Englischer Garten, the ancient pastureland on the banks of the Isar, and its vibrant districts, such as Schwabing, Haidhausen, and Giesing, prompt these terms of endearment. Munich is the perfect place for anyone who loves mountains, idyllic lakes, and long hikes across fields and pastures. There are many beautiful excursion destinations within easy traveling distance from Munich. |

Mom's reading with Allison DuBois and Jill Dahne |
|

|
Allison DuBois' secretary called and set up a reading for my mom. SHe asked wether she wanted a mediumistic or psychic reading. They prepare for the readings differently. A medium reading will focus on the readers ability to communicate with the deceased, and a psychic reading takes advantage of other abilities such as clairvoyance and clairaudience to "see" information about the sitter. Mom opted for the mediumistic reading and asked that the focus be her father.
She's also got a psychic reading later this month with Jill Dahne. Jill's another famous psychic who has worked on crime television shows, has her own popular radio show "The Love Psychic" and also has her first book just recently published as well. I'v ehad two readings with Jill, and they were both surreal. A reading with Jill Dahne would squelch any skeptic! The picture above is of my mom. I took it when she came to visit me in Heidelberg, Germany a few years ago. This is one of the pictures I gave to Jill Dahne to prepare her for my mom's reading. |

Finally I will get back surgery and will be PAIN free! |
|
Saturday, 29 March 2008 |
It's been 20 years since I first had symptoms from 2 herniated disks in my lower back. I doubt there could be a pain more painful, or a problem more debilitating. I remember days when I could not even move my body, let alone get out of bed, or let the dog outside. I have had to crawl around my house to feed myself and go to the bathroom.
In the past, the surgery was dangerous because they went in through the back and had to move the spinal nerves out of the way. They ripped muscles and tore ligaments to get to what they needed to do. There was only a 60% success rate, and you could be out of work for 7 weeks or more. It was also very Painful! I hate pain. Now they have a new procedure called "endoscopic disk surgery" It's an outpatient procedure with only local anestesia. They say you can be back to work withina few days after the procedure. I'm having the surgery at the Alpha Spine Klinik in Munich, Germany. They are world renowned for thier procedure. If you are interested, here is a video that shows the endoscopic procedure - |
